As pointed out by the speakers, our country is claiming a substantial portion of the 40 billion euro pie from the medical tourism market worldwide. However, according to the figures presented today, Greece holds only 3% of medical tourism, when Turkey, Poland and the Czech Republic hold 13% and Belgium 8%.

Geoge Patoulis, the President of Athens Medical Association and Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, during his speech through Skype, stressed that Greece, through a series of interventions that has implemented, creates an important competitive front.

In particular, he highlighted the following:
“Our goal is to demonstrate Greece, as a top destination for medical tourism, 12 months a year. We must transform Greek cities to city break destinations and attract investments that will create thousands of new jobs and new incomes in a country, which has been experiencing a structural crisis in the last eight years. Our country has strong competitive advantages. We can attract high-caliber tourists and keep the country’s best minds, Greek scientists, in Greece. ”
